Wingwalking on the Isle of Wight: Sandown Aerodrome

On Arrival: Sandown

• Once at the airfield gate, you will notice a long, straight concrete track leading towards the car park
• Enter the gate and continue driving carefully along this track. Please be mindful that you are now entering an active Aerodrome
• Please remain in your car until you reach the car park
• Alongside the track on the lefthand side, there is an active grass runway. DO NOT drive onto this under any circumstances – remain on the concrete track

Proceed with Caution

• Aircraft can cross the track ahead of you in either direction, as it’s also their route to and from the runway
• Please GIVE WAY to the aircraft and continue once the aircraft has fully passed in this situation
• Important Notice: PROPELLERS CAN KILL

Arrival at Car Park

• Continue along the track until you pass the main Sandown buildings on your right
• You will notice the car park entrance approaching on your left
• Turn into the car park and park sparingly around the edge – you may notice the Wingwalk with Ethel Dares office marked by signs, banners and flags
• Overflow parking is available within the field on the left of the airfield as you turn in.

Once Parked: Wingwalking Refreshments

Pre and Post Wingwalk Refreshments & Toilets

• When ready, please make your way to the main Sandown Restuarant and clubhouse where refreshments are available for yourself and your wingwalk spectators. There are toilets also

• As your slot approaches, a branded member of our Isle of Wight Wingwalking DareCrew will come and introduce themselves and accompany you to our in Check-In point

IMPORTANT Sandown Aerodrome is an active airfield and PROPELLERS CAN KILL

• you and your guests must remain within designated areas at all times unless accompanied by Ethel Dares staff
• please keep children under control and close at all times
• dogs must be kept on a leash at all times
